My favorite moment of today’s entry is that Jonathan hears Dracula and the ladies whispering outside his door, and he just freakin’ throws his door open like he’s about to chase away some alley cats. He is SO DONE right now— and he has almost nothing to lose.
My hot Dracula take is that he drank from & started to vampirize Jonathan the night of the 29th. (The whole “To-night is mine. To-morrow night is yours!” thing. You get it.) People have talked a lot about his later vampy traits (strange strength and speed, his anime boy white hair, ect) but I kinda have a plausible theory as to why he gets those traits but doesn’t seem to be actively turning into a vampire when we see him next after he escapes. Vampires, and those being turned by vampires, are harmed by holy symbols. So could it be that part of Jonathan’s brain fever in the convent is him reacting to being fucking SURROUNDED by holy symbols? Like, Dracula’s vampiric influence getting burned out of him?? I just think it’s an interesting idea.
